Congratulations to Yi Liu — Successful Ph.D. Defense

I am delighted to share that Yi Liu has successfully defended his Ph.D. dissertation in Statistics at North Carolina State University.

Yi’s dissertation, Data-Adaptive, Robustness-Preserving, and Efficiency-Improving Methodology for Causal Effect Estimation, develops methods for causal inference with a focus on data-adaptive estimation, robustness, and efficiency. His research spans causal inference and survival analysis for observational and randomized studies, analysis of novel and composite endpoints, data fusion, and federated learning for multi-source biomedical data, with applications including cardiovascular outcome trials, HIV/AIDS, congenital heart defects, and disparities in healthcare.

During his Ph.D., Yi has also been a Biostatistics Student Fellow at the Duke Clinical Research Institute. His work has been recognized with awards including the ASA Biopharmaceutical Section Scholarship Award, an IMS Hannan Graduate Student Travel Award, a Merck Research Fellowship, and multiple best poster and presentation awards.

Please join me in congratulating Yi on this outstanding achievement. Well done, Yi!
